Well movie fans, the very first Freedom Film Series is upon us! The theme I have chosen for the first F.F.S. pays homage to one of the greatest film-makers in movie history. He is the rightfully named and undisputed Master of Suspense, Alfred Hitchcock. This 5-time Oscar nominated director created movies that were potently suspenseful when they were first released, and are still just as thrilling today. This is what modern day horror/thriller/suspense directors strive to emulate. From the time I first came up with the idea for the Freedom Film Series, I knew one of them would have a Hitchcock theme. This first F.F.S. seemed like the perfect choice. It starts the series off with a great, well-known director, and the final screening of this series will fall on Hitchcock's 109th birthday!
The four films I have chosen for the series reflect some of Hitchcock's favorite motifs/themes and some of his best work. Each week, prior to the screening, I will publish posts on each individual film; giving a brief overview and introduction of the film. All of the screenings will be held in the Freedom Regional Library Community Room and are free of charge. All screenings will be on Wednesday nights from 6:00pm until 8:00pm. Below are the four films that will be screened and their dates, as well as a copy of the advertising flyer that is posted around the library. I am eagerly looking forward to getting the F.F.S. going on a high note, so I hope to see a good crowd here for our first screening!
July 23: Rebecca
July 30: Vertigo
Aug. 06: The Birds
Aug. 13: Rear Window
Until next time....
P.S. Be on the lookout for my first movie review, which will be posted very soon!
